The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for developing relationships with compliant cannabis growers and determining their ability to become approved vendors. The position will be 75% field based.The Procurement Specialist I will be responsible for building relationships with small to medium sized cultivators with average transaction amounts of $50,000 or less, handling quality assurance protocols, transactions, and transportation.
Reports to/Supervision received:
Manager: Director of Procurement
Direct Supervisor: Director of Procurement
Indirect Reporting Relationship: Director of Operations
Taking field samples and quarantining batches of cannabis extractive material for purchase.
Managing and tracking quality assurance protocols and lab documentation to approve or reject
Maintaining records as needed for compliance.
Continually develop a network of cannabis growers to help meet Bloom Farms’ annual and
ongoing production material requirements.
Managing transaction and material logistics to and from licensed cultivation sites to Bloom
Farms’ manufacturing facility.
Create monthly summaries for Procurement Director of potential and ongoing cultivator
relationships, including biomass predictions and strain availability.
Negotiate and execute contracts with growers for extractive material.
Communicate as needed with Procurement Director to provide top-tier vendor leads, request
purchase orders and funding, and coordinate demand requirements to cultivator partners.
Coordination with Production and Finance teams to handle material and payment logistics
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Minimum education (or substitute experience) required:
Bachelor’s Degree. 5+ years in entrepreneurial management, legal administration, or farming. Working knowledge of commercial sustainable agricultural practice.
Minimum skills required:
Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively negotiate in a constrained environment. Very organized and able to meet non- extendable deadlines and function under high-pressure workloads.
